- Getting to the Gippsland Lakes -
The Gippsland Lakes forms part of the East Gippsland region, and is situated around 3 hours drive east of Melbourne.
A region renowned for its charming waterfront villages, coastal towns, scenic drives and nature-based experiences, this is definitely a region easiest explored by car.
If you’re coming from Melbourne, East Gippsland is most easily accessed from the Monash Freeway (M1) which becomes the Princes Highway (M1/ A1), passing through Warragul, Traralgon, Sale, Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
If you’re travelling from Sydney, the Sydney Melbourne Coastal Drive passes through the Gippsland Lakes region, en-route to Melbourne along the Princes Highway (M1/ A1).
