- In and Around Nungurner -

  • With the Gippsland Lakes just a short drive from our property, get out and make a splash!  The foreshore area at Nungurner provides sheltered, sandy access to the lake, and is ideal for a paddle or a swim for all ages.
  • Bring your canoe, kayak, paddle board or boat to venture out and explore the Lakes, nearby islands and inland waterways.
  • Try your luck fishing off the jetties, and admire the serene sight of yachts bobbing at anchor nearby (keep your eye out for a pod of dolphins!).
  • Immerse yourself in the mineral rich geothermal water at Metung Hot Springs, including your very own barrel atop a cliff overlooking the lake (pictured). You can easily spend a couple hours wandering around the beautiful undulating hillside dipping in and out of the various pools. Or treat yourself with a spa treatment also available on site. This is a MUST VISIT!
  • For some two wheel adventures bring your mountain bike and ride old growth forest at nearby Colquhoun State Forest.  Or you can choose from a range of hire and tour options with Venture Out. For adventure seekers we highly recommend speaking to Sarah and the team at Venture Out. Whether it's on water adventures such as standing up paddle boarding or kayaking or two wheeled adventures, Venture Out has your covered with a range of equipment hire options plus guided tours.
  • Pack the picnic basket provided and drive a few minutes to Nyerimilang Park, a historic homestead set in beautiful gardens with clifftop views of the Lakes and a variety of scenic walking tracks.
  • Check out the picture perfect village of Metung, where you can stretch your legs along the boardwalk at the lake's edge. Metung is also the closest place for dining out options, including the iconic waterside Metung Hotel, Aroma Cafe, Chez Joe and The Local. The Metung Bakery also has you covered for a coffee, pie, authentic vietnamese food or a sweet treat!
  • There's no need to give up your yoga practice whilst you're on holiday.  Join a yoga or pilates class at nearby House of Yoga and stay in your flow.
  • Head to a weekend farmers' market and stock up on some superb local produce from East Gippsland.  If you are travelling midweek you can pick up a range of local produce from the Metung Village Store.
  • Grab some fish and chips and sit and watch the fishing fleets returning at Lakes Entrance. Fish-A-Fare are our favourite chippery, but you're spoilt for choice here! You can also purchase fresh caught seafood direct from the fishing trawlers over summer, or year round at Off the Wharf fish shop.
  • Other great dining options if you're in Lakes Entrance include Sodafish, Sea Shanty and Albert & Co. They showcase the best local produce around, and all cater for non-seafood lovers too!
  • Or simply slow down, put your feet up, pour a glass of wine and breathe in the beautiful landscapes that surround you here.

- Half or full day trips (all within 2 hours drive) -

  • Go underground at Buchan to explore the famous Buchan Caves (pictured). Victoria's largest cave system, these spectacular labyrinth of limestone formations were carved by an underground river almost 400 million years ago. Another must visit in our view!
  • Bring your bikes and cycle all or part of the stunning East Gippsland Rail Trail, enjoying spectacular river scenery from the top of old railway bridges. Or join a guided cycle tour (including bike hire) with Snowy River Cycling
  • Pack your togs and head to Cape Conran Coastal Park for the day (stop in to have a look at the Stony Creek historic Trestle Bridge pictured on your way there or back).
  • Drive to Paynesville and jump on the ferry over to Raymond Island to see koalas.
  • Follow the Twin Rivers ‘Food & Wine Trail’ to sample fresh local produce, meet the growers and producers and take in beautiful scenery on your drive.
  • Look for fairies in the Fairy Dell Forest near Bruthen, or head to Tambo Valley Honey for a delicious meal and unique honey tasting experience.
